14 years
Today marks the 14 year anniversary of my accident and losing my left leg above the knee. Yeah it sucks but I never want to run anywhere anyway for running causes brain damage. I have enough that from my TBI. Really the only thing I really miss is brook/stream/river fishing where I waded in to fish for trout. I don't walk well enough to that and I am forbidden to get my prosthetic knee wet due to the computer and other electronics in it. I just miss reading the water for I basically knew where to cast for a trout to rise from my analysis of the water. It was fun and I would have loved to teach that to my sons. Today also marks the anniversary of losing them as well.................

test socket
I am in a clear test socket now. This step is to test it to see how it works and feels before the next hard, permanent socket is made, I am experimenting and pushing it by doing all kinds of things. I am using no sock, a 1/2 sock and a 1 ply sock to see which feels better in terms of fit. My new socket will no longer be kittys for I am back to plaid!!!!

New socket
I see my physiatrist tomorrow so I can convince him that I need a new socket so he then can prescribe me one to my prothetist who then can build it. I have to jump through hoops which I guess everyone has to do, but it is harder for me to jump with just one leg. Same old story shrinkage........... due to my residual limb now being so taught.

Tested at PT
Sorry for the delay in posting for so long.... I had a PT session today where she tested me on something called the L walk where I am timed from a sitting position and then walk a L shaped walk and back to a sitting position. I improved dramatically in terms of time from the first time she timed me doing this. I then had to do a 6 minute walk and once again improved dramatically this time in terms of distance.

Erect Walking
I had my first PT session yesterday after being in the hospital for a week. I am improving so much! Walking much more erect! Oh get your mind out of the gutter.... I am no longer leaning forward nearly as much as I walk. I am working also on keeping my feet closer together as I walk.

walk like a model
My Physical Therapist wants me to stand with my feet no wider than 6inches apart. I hate this and argue it is much easier for women to stand this way than men. I even explained why but she would hear nothing of it. I am getting better though walking with my feet closer together though but I think she wants me to walk like a model. Why? Is it because I am DDG?

bending my knee
I had my first Physical Therapy session since early November 2016 and my Physical Therapist was very impressed with the way I am bending my artificial knee every step I make. She wants me to walk with my feet closer together and she also wants me to stand with my feet closer together as well. She gave me exercises to include in the ones that I have been doing for years. I will do them and hopefully I will see more improvement soon.
