New Doctor

I now have a new Physiatrist, Dr. Branch, who replaces Dr. Fox,  I like him and he seems to like me.

New Leg and New Ankle

Sorry for taking so long in not posting before now.........  I now have a new leg - a C-Leg 4 and a new ankle - the Triton Smart ankle and I am back in physical therapy learning how to use them both.  I am now having PT at the Southern Maine Health Center in Kennebunk, Maine and my physical therapist is Sarah Macclean. I am learning how to balance - I mean really balance on my prosthetic leg and I am really getting it.  Before my prosthetitst, John Paul Donovan and my Dad hated it when I used my artificial leg as a crutch but I now I am working on really walking on it and through with it which means that I have to spend time on it!!!! hence all the balance exercises first.

The new ankle can move up and down and bend side to side so I can walk up and down hills like a normal person.  The new leg as a golfing mode so I can swing a club with my artificial knee slightly bent if I want to for down hill lies or whatever without using the illegal foot wedge......  I am walking so much better now.

they are pleased

I saw John-Paul Donovan and Dr. Fox at Atlantic Procare this week and they are both very happy the way I am walking!!!!  This pleased me but I want to walk even better.  They don't think that I need/warrant any more therapy at this time.  Dr. Fox approved me getting more liners and better straps.

Glad & Worried

I just learned a week or so again that my prosthesist, Jerald Cunningham, left Atlantic ProCare without telling any of his patients.  I found out from Cathy who works there when I called.  She is the business manager there and she told me not to worry that I am still a patient there and the owner, John-Paul Donovan would once again be my prosthesist.  I am glad about this and a bit worried about this at the same time.  John-Paul is much more reliable than Jerald on so many fronts; most notably he actually returns phone calls and emails which Jerald never did.  J. P. also dots the I's and crosses the T's in terms of warranties and maintenance of my prosthetic leg which again Jerald never did.  I am worried in that J. P. is the owner of Atlantic ProCare and he might be too busy at times..................  but I have been with him since 2004 and he has always treated me right.

Haven't fallen

Just an update from the winter from hell - where snow has been measured in feet rather than inches!!!!  I haven't fallen once and I have tried to keep the form that Lindsay taught me.
